Every year, the East-West Shrine Bowl committee examines the top players eligible for the upcoming East-West Shrine Bowl and NFL Draft class.

Sure, we have a long way until the actual East-West Shrine Bowl, which will be held on January 30, 2025 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, but the committee has released its annual top 1000 list, one that includes 12 current UNC football standouts.

Competing in this annual contest is a huge honor for the players selected, as they have the opportunity to be coached by NFL coaches in a state-of-the-art NFL facility. These players have access to NFL-level resources, facilities, player-friendly schedules, and opportunities at the highest level.

Needless to say: if you're aspiring to play at the next level, you definitely want to be a part of this event.

The 12 UNC football players who made this initial list include:

Desmond Evans
Bryson Nesbit
Kaimon Rucker
Power Echols
Nate McCollum
Kevin Hester Jr.
JJ Jones
Alijah Huzzie
Willie Lampkin
Max Johnson
Jakeen Harris
Stick Lane

The UNC football program is fortunate to have a good amount of veteran leadership and talent on this current roster, as the group of student-athletes listed above are looking to make a major impact on the field this season.

If all goes well, it's possible that a few of these current Tar Heels will be suiting up for the upcoming East-West Shrine Bowl once the 2024 season comes to a close.
