The UNC football program is preparing for its home opener on Saturday against Charlotte, as all eyes will be on Conner Harrell as he takes over as the team's starting quarterback following the season-ending injury to Max Johnson.

While there are plenty of questions regarding this current Tar Heels squad (even after coming away with a nail-biting victory in Week 1 against Minnesota), the UNC football program is considered heavy favorites leading up to its home opener.

The Tar Heels open up as 22-point favorites against the 49ers, a team that is coming off a 31-7 loss to James Madison (a team the UNC football program will host in two weeks).

Charlotte is dealing with a wide-range of injury issues, as head coach Biff Poggi spoke to the media prior to the team's season opener about it. Poggi stated that his team was down nearly 50% of their starters, as that could be a very similar trend when they roll up to Chapel Hill this weekend.

You never want to overlook an opponent, as taking care of the business right in front of you is vital. These next few weeks will be very important as the Tar Heels offense looks to get in a rhythm, especially with the switch at the quarterback position, as they hope to be firing on all cylinders before non-conference action comes to a close.

While we'd all love the UNC football program to easy cover that spread, it seems a little high to start for an offense that was very lackluster in week one. Hopefully, that changes when the Tar Heels return home, but this has the makings of being a spread that sports betters take a chance on this weekend.
