When you talk about the best college football players leading into the 2024 season, it's nearly impossible to not mention Omarion Hampton among the group.

The UNC football star emerged onto the scene during the 2023 season, as he was one of the best running backs in the country. He rushed for 1,504 yards and 15 touchdowns, as he ran for over 1,000 more yards than he did during his freshman season.

Heading into his junior season, expectations are sky high for Hampton, as he was named to the 2024 Maxwell Award Watch List.

Hampton is one of 20, yes, 20 ACC players to make the 80-player list, as the conference has the most representatives in the country. Sine 1937, this award has been presented to the College Player of the Year in Division I football.

If he puts together a season like he did a year ago, Hampton will very likely be among the finalists for this award.

Semifinalists for the Maxwell Award will be announced on November 12, 2024. Three finalists will be revealed on November 26, 2024, while the 88th recipient of the award will be announced on December 12, 2024.
