Fans of the UNC football program are flat-out DISGUSTED by the performance the Tar Heels put forward against JMU, as the Dukes, who struggled to score 13 points against Gardner-Webb, dropped a 70 burger on North Carolina in front of the home crowd.
Social media has erupted during the game and following the conclusion of it (something we all couldn't wait for), as fans and analysts alike voiced their opinions on the game and the ultimate state of the UNC football program.
Mack Brown is also receiving a ton of heat, as the same problems that have been consistent throughout his second tenure are still very much evident to this day. Check out some posts on X (formerly Twitter) below to see how fans are reacting to this embarassing beatdown by JMU.
This is absolutely, ridiculously, astronomically…comical

If you would’ve told me #UNC would have 500+ yards offensively today I would have assumed it won by 30+.

Mack Brown gonna continue to cash checks, sign extensions, and complain about insufficient NIL, I fear

This is the type of loss that starts some stuff happening.

It's not just that James Madison beat North Carolina 70-50 at Chapel Hill.

It's that UNC paid $500,000 for the privilege!
The Dukes put the shimmy in the shag! UNC, put the money in the bag!
“We could still run the table and win the ACC” - Mack, postgame press conference, probably pic.twitter.com/1QCwNJf6r9

Defense is the worst in all of D1. Can’t stop a G5 team to save their lives. Offense put points on the board to beat most teams defense never showed up. This defense has cost us way too many games.

Love that UNC gets the No. 1 BBall recruit on campus for the first time since 2013 this weekend and the FBall team craps its pants.

Things UNC fans want:
— Jake Lawrence (@TheRealestRJL) September 21, 2024
Occasionally competitive in ACC
Consistently win 8 games.
Dominate in-state match-ups
Win the occasional OOC P4/5 game.
Not lose to lower level/conference opponents.
Mack has been respectable relative to history, but bad relative to talent expectations.
North Carolina’s record through its first 69 games under the following head coaches:
— chris (@dadgumboxscores) September 21, 2024
41-28 Mack Brown 2.0
41-28 Larry Fedora
The only thing I expect from UNC football is disappointment.
— Kerusso (@hismanj) September 21, 2024
Massive, unrelenting disappointment.
Inexcusable and embarrassing.

Year 6 and you’re getting ran out of your home stadium by a G5 team with a first year HC replacing 55 players. An absolute joke. Starts at the top.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a horrible performance from a team as UNC has given today
— Matthew Childress (@footballphinfan) September 21, 2024
Opposing coaching staff came ready to pull out all the stops and Mack Brown is over there just hoping everyone has fun https://t.co/kXbFmzDYlu

Keeping Mack will be bad for UNC nobody will be in the stands even worst than it’s been in the past.
— Jay (@JayHardy252) September 21, 2024
Time has been over due
UNC has totally QUIT horrible look nationally
I don’t generally like to play the “fire the coach” game but UNC has a culture problem. It has underperformed consistently in games it has no business losing. That’s not going to change under the current coach.
