If you were hoping to see Devontez 'Tez' Walker play football on Thursday night, we have some bad news for you.

The Baltimore Ravens released their inactives for their season opener against the Kansas City Chiefs, a list that includes the former UNC football standout.

Baltimore has five wide receivers suited up for the game, electing to not suit up Walker, who appears to be a healthy scratch. The former Tar Heel was not listed on any pregame injury reports leading up to the season opener.

Walker is not the only Ravens rookie to be ruled inactive. The franchise has five rookies who will be sitting this one out, a game where experience should be considered important to have on your side.

According to the Baltimore Ravens' pregame release, Walker dealt with an undisclosed injury during training camp. This, along with other wide receivers being ahead of him on the depth chart, both are factors in the decision to not have him play in Week One.

Fans of the UNC football program saw just how dynamic Walker is during his lone season in Chapel Hill, instantly becoming a top target for now New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye. After a short stint in Chapel Hill, the Ravens took a chance on Walker in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft with the goal of finding another versatile playmaker for star quarterback Lamar Jackson to work with.

While it's unfortunate that he won't suit up in the opener, the hope is that Walker will eventually work his way up the depth chart to find some playing time this season. Once he earns that opportunity, he'll look to remain on the active roster while becoming a productive weapon in the Ravens' offense.
