Three programs remain in the recruitment of three-star offensive lineman Byron Nelson, as the UNC football program has made the short list of finalists.

Nelson has not only named his finalists but is ready to make a decision, as he'll choose between Pittsburgh, Vanderbilt and North Carolina.

The rising senior is a 6-foot-3, 280-pound presence on the offensive line, as the UNC football program would love to add another talented quarterback protector to their roster. Currently, Nelson comes in as the No. 112-ranked interior lineman in the Class of 2025 (according to 247Sports), as he's a prospect who has seen his recruitment heat up over the past couple of weeks.

Things have moved quickly between Nelson and the Tar Heels, as Mack Brown and his staff extended an official offer to him on June 23. This offer came following Nelson's official visit to Chapel Hill.

If you think about it: the timing of his announcement seems to heavily favor the UNC football program.

Prior to his visit to North Carolina, Nelson also visited his other two finalists. He started at Pittsburgh on June 6 and traveled to Vanderbilt a week later.

It's actually very interesting to think how quickly recruitments can heat up, as Nelson has quickly caught the attention of some notable college programs over the last few months. Now, he'll have to decide between his three finalists, as the UNC football program hopes that they can add another offensive lineman to its Class of 2025 commitment list before the start of the weekend.
