UNC Football: 2024 signees who will have the biggest impact as freshmen

With a very large incoming freshman class, these three student-athletes are poised to make the biggest impact as freshman for the UNC football program.

You can easily point to wide receiver Alex Taylor as another player who could make an immediate impact, but we chose to go with kicker Lucas Osada.

Why? Well, for starters, Osada is considered the sixth-best kicker in his graduating class (according to 247Sports) and served as a place kicker and punter during his high school career.

An all-state selection as both a kicker and punter, Osada earned third-team Kohl’s All-America honors as a punter. He connected on eight of his 13 career field goal attempts, with three of those misses coming from beyond 50 yards out. As a punter, Osada averaged 45.3 yards per punt.

How the Tar Heels plan to utilize him still remains to be seen, but given the special team struggles (especially on punt attempts), it wouldn't be a surprise at all to see Osada challenge for both the place kicker and punter jobs heading into the 2024 season.
