As the 2024-2025 college basketball season slowly inches closer, we continue to learn more about the UNC basketball program's non-conference schedule.

On Thursday, Rocco Miller of bracketeer.org reported that the Tar Heels will host La Salle on Saturday, December 14th, in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. As Miller stated, this will be the first time these two teams have met since 1988.

The Tar Heels are 2-1 all-time against the Explorers, winning each of the last two meetings. Those contests came in consecutive seasons, as North Carolina traveled to Philadelphia in 1987 and proceeded to host the rematch in 1988.

Under the direction of head coach Fran Dunphy, La Salle is coming off a 2023-2024 season in which they posted a 16-17 overall record.

To keep you up to date, here is what we currently know about the UNC basketball program's non-conference schedule for the upcoming season:

Kansas (November 8- Season Opener)
Hawaii (November 22)
Maui Invitational (November 25-27)
La Salle (December 14)
Florida- Jumpman Invitational (Date TBD)
UCLA- CBS Sports Classic (Date TBD)

ACC/SEC Challenge (Opponent and Date TBD)

Similar to last season, the UNC basketball program is once again expected to compete against a tough non-conference slate of games. This could definitely benefit the Tar Heels, as winning some early season games against some top-tier opponents would go a long way in helping the program come NCAA Tournament seeding time.

Of course, this is all still months away, but it's never too early to start mapping out the Tar Heels schedule for the upcoming season!
