Prior to the Tar Heels' victory over previously unbeaten Oklahoma, Tar Heel Sports Network play-by-play announcer Jones Angell put together a beautiful tribute for his former colleague, who was part of the radio broadcast team for 18 seasons.

Friday night will be the first time that the UNC basketball program plays a game at the Dean Smith Center since the passing of legendary Eric Montross on December 17. The tributes in honor of the former Tar Heel will continue, as Angell announced on social media the plan for North Carolina's final game of the 2023 calendar year.

It was decided that Montross' seat at the scorer's table will be left early, as Angell will call the game by himself. The Tar Heel Radio Sports Network felt that it was fitting to leave his seat empty for this game, as the panel of analysts who were tabbed to fill Montross' void before the start of the season will re-join the broadcasts at the start of the new year.

There is no doubt that it will be another emotional night for the UNC basketball program, as there most certainly will be a tribute to Montross prior to tip-off. If you regularly tune into the Tar Heel Sports Network, the broadcast will sound a bit different than usual, but it be a special tribute to a guy who has meant so much to the University of North Carolina as a whole.

The radio broadcast for tonight's UNC basketball game against Charleston Southern is one that we definitely think all Tar Heels fans should tune into.

You won't want to miss it.
