UNC Basketball: The 2024 ACC Men's Basketball Tournament bracket is set!
Now that the 2023-2024 regular season has come to a close, it's time to turn the focus to postseason play.
Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program, the ACC regular season champions, have earned the No. 1 overall seed in the 2024 ACC men's basketball tournament. The Tar Heels will have a double-bye, as they will not be in action until Thursday afternoon.
Here's your first official look at this year's bracket:
The Tar Heels won't know who they will play until Wednesday afternoon, but it is narrowed down to one of two teams. North Carolina awaits the winner of the second round matchup between the No. 8-seed Virginia Tech and the No. 9-seeded Florida State.
For the Tar Heels, the bracket actually seeded favorably. There's only one team on their side of the bracket that they lost to during the regular season, No. 13-seed Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets would have to win three games in a row for a potential matchup with the UNC basketball program, which is possible but will be a tough task.
The Tar Heels defeated Virginia Tech once and Florida State twice this season, but remember the Seminoles' length did give North Carolina some trouble in their two meetings. With a win in the Quarterfinals, the UNC basketball program could face No. 4 seed Pittsburgh or No. 5 seed Wake Forest, two more squads that the Tar Heels defeated during conference play.
We're just going to put it out there now: the whole world expects the UNC basketball program and Duke to match up for a third time on Saturday night in the finals of the ACC Tournament. Don't be surprised if these two rivals have one more meeting in store before the brackets for the upcoming NCAA Tournament get released the following day.
