UNC Basketball star RJ Davis once again earns ACC Player of the Week honors

It's simple: RJ Davis is HIM.

For the fourth time this season, the UNC basketball star has been named the ACC Player of the Week. This marks the seventh time a Tar Heel has earned the award, as Davis' four leads all conference players during the 2023-2024 season.

This honor is certainly well-deserved, especially given his performance in the UNC basketball program's victory over Miami on Monday night in Chapel Hill. Davis scored 42 points, now holding the record for the most points scored in a single game at the Dean Smith Center.

If you take a moment to think of all the elite scorers that have worn the Carolina Blue, RJ Davis now holds one of the most notable single-game records, another reminder of the elite company that Davis continues to join throughout his senior season.

He followed up his 42-point performance with a 14-point outing against NC State. Although the scoring number from this game isn't as jaw-dropping as his last game, the Wolfpack did everything in their power to slow Davis down, as other Tar Heels stepped up to carry more of the scoring load en route to a win over their in-state foe.

However, Davis impacted the NC State game in many ways, recording seven rebounds, five assists, and a block over 36 minutes of action. While essentially carrying the scoring loads against the Hurricanes, Davis found a way to record six rebounds, four steals, and an assist. Both games are proof that even though he leads the ACC in scoring and is a natural scorer, Davis isn't limited to putting the ball in the basket.

Davis and the UNC basketball hope to secure the ACC regular season title this week as they close out the 2023-2024 campaign with games against Notre Dame and Duke. A win vs. the Fighting Irish secures at least a share of the conference crown, while two wins secures it outright for the Tar Heels.
