UNC Basketball: Seth Trimble to enter the transfer portal
More UNC basketball roster news surfaced on Tuesday afternoon, as Seth Trimble has elected to enter his name in the transfer portal.
After two seasons at North Carolina, Trimble will look to continue his college basketball career elsewhere. The Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin native posted this heartfelt message on social media.
A former top-50 recruit, Trimble was arguably the Tar Heels' most improved player. He became the key reserve off the bench for Hubert Davis, as his athleticism and lockdown defense played a major role in the UNC basketball program's success this season.
Trimble became a fan favorite in Chapel Hill, as his highlight-reel plays drew a lot of hype from the Tar Heel faithful. Not only was Trimble an important player on the defensive side of the ball, but he also improved his shooting ability, showing the confidence to knock down some timely buckets during his sophomore season.
After his freshman season, Trimble could've easily departed like many of his former teammates did. However, Trimble elected to stay and improve upon his game, as his hard work and dedication truly showed with his improvements during his second season in Chapel Hill.
Many fans will be sad to see Trimble go, and rightly so. He's a guy who embraced his role and truly loves being a Tar Heel. He will be tough to replace, but the hope is that his next landing spot will allow him the opportunity to play a bigger role than he has played over the last two seasons.
North Carolina currently has two players departing via the transfer portal, as Trimble follows James Okonkwo, who entered the portal a few days prior. At this moment (of course, anything can change), the UNC basketball program has four open scholarships to work with.
