When Paxson Wojcik made the decision to transfer to North Carolina, the story of how his father, Doug, used to be a former assistant coach for the UNC basketball program was widely talked about.

Fast forward months later, and now the two will have the opportunity to compete against each other.

When the NCAA Tournament bracket came out, the Wojcik family realized that a potential matchup between family members could occur in the second round. Of course, Paxson is a student-athlete for the University of North Carolina, while Doug is currently an assistant coach for Tom Izzo and the Michigan State Spartans.

Now that both teams took care of business in the opening round, the Wojcik family battle is set for Saturday night in Charlotte, North Carolina.

This won't be the first meeting between the father and son, as they competed against one another a season ago when Paxson was playing at Brown. Michigan State got the win that day, but Paxson recorded a 10-point, 13-rebound double-double.

It's safe to say that Paxson hopes the outcome is different this time around.

Of course, it must be weird, especially since the parties are speaking to each other before the tip-off. As Paxson told the media on Friday, both parties are trying not to give away too much of their game plan.

“It’s been a weird last 24 hours where we’ve been talking but not trying to share too much inside information. So we’ve kept it pretty secretive.”

Just as Doug has connections to the UNC basketball program, Paxson has ties to the Michigan State Spartans, as Doug has worked two separate stints at the university. It won't be easy for either side, but once the game gets underway, both will look to do whatever they can to help their side win.

Without a doubt, family bragging rights are on the line in this one!
