Just a year ago, the UNC basketball program missed the NCAA Tournament and faced a ton of roster overhaul and a lot of uncertainty heading into the 2023-2024 season.

With plenty of people questioning whether he was the right guy for the job, Hubert Davis proved a lot of people wrong this season. Not only did he bring in a talented transfer class that has made major impacts on this year's squad, but also molded a group of young men to become family, as is very evident both on and off the court.

The Tar Heels capped off an impressive regular season with a win against rival Duke in Durham, a victory that secured the UNC basketball the ACC regular season title outright. North Carolina's 25-6 record just didn't happen overnight, as Davis played a large role in making that happen.

In recognition of the year he, and the Tar Heels, had, Hubert Davis has been named the ACC Coach of the Year.

It's been a roller coaster for Davis since taking over as the UNC basketball program's leader, as he saw the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. A Final Four run was followed by a disappointing season in general, but Davis made sure that wouldn't be the same outcome this season, as the Tar Heels reloaded and regrouped, becoming one of the best teams in the country throughout the regular season.

Say what you want about Davis (as we're sure plenty of people are still skeptical with him at the helm), but give the man his props: he's done one heck of a job with this team.

Davis recruited guys like Elliot Cadeau to Chapel Hill, and also convinced Harrison Ingram and Cormac Ryan that North Carolina was a great landing spot via the transfer portal. All three players, along with the ever-consistent Armando Bacot and All-American breakout star RJ Davis, the Tar Heels have a lethal roster that can beat you on both sides of the floor.

Heading into March Madness, it's safe to say that teams would like to avoid the UNC basketball program on their schedule.

Davis earned 49 votes, which was 37 more than Jeff Capel of Pittsburgh (who finished second in the voting. Eight coaches received votes, but Davis simply blew out the competition with this vote.

Davis is very-deserving of this award, as he has been not only the best coach in the Atlantic Coast Conference, but ranks among the best head coaching jobs by any coach throughout the entire country this season.

It's time to give this man his flowers. He's the guy to lead the UNC basketball program into the future.
