UNC Basketball: RJ Davis named a preseason Blue Ribbon First-Team All-American
Leading up to his final season with the UNC basketball program, RJ Davis is expected once again to be one of the country's top overall players.
With just about two months remaining until opening tip-off, Davis has already earned an accolade, as he's been named a Blue Ribbon Preseason First-Team All-American.
Davis had a senior season to remember, as he was tabbed as the ACC Player of the Year and was later named a consensus first-team All-American. He was simply a "walking bucket," averaging 21.2 points per game while shooting 42.8% from the floor, including nearly 40% from three-point range.
With his No. 4 already set to be honored in the Dean Smith Center rafters once his UNC basketball career comes to a close, Davis looks to not only lead the Tar Heels to a National Championship but hopes that he'll be the last player in program history to wear his number.
Davis isn't the only familiar name on the Blue Ribbon Preseason First-Team All-American squad, as former UNC basketball standout (now Arizona guard) Caleb Love has also earned a spot on the list. The others on the first team include Hunter Dickinson (Kansas), Alex Karaban (UConn) and Mark Sears (Alabama).
First team:
- Hunter Dickinson (Kansas)
- Alex Karaban (UConn)
- RJ Davis (North Carolina)
- Caleb Love (Arizona)
- Mark Sears (Alabama)
Second team:
- Johni Broome (Auburn)
- Cooper Flagg (Duke)
- Wade Taylor IV (Texas A&M)
- Zakai Zegler (Tennessee)
- Braden Smith (Purdue)
The UNC basketball program will go as RJ Davis goes this season, as the veteran guard looks to cap off a tremendous career in Chapel Hill with another season to remember. If he can duplicate, or even surpass, what he was able to do a season ago, Davis will solidify his status as one of the best players to ever wear the UNC basketball uniform.
