On Monday, four-star forward Niko Bundalo announced that he has cut his recruitment down to eight schools.

Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program are still in the mix, as they are joined by Kentucky, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Michigan State, Xavier, and Texas among the schools that are still in contention.

The Tar Heels got a late jump in this particular recruitment, as they didn't officially extend an offer to Bundalo until June 20 of this calendar year. However, that hasn't hurt them just yet, as the 6-foot-11 forward from Ohio is still very much considering heading to Chapel Hill.

Speaking of Chapel Hill: Bundalo has an official visit scheduled to North Carolina on October 4. The Tar Heels are currently situated as the final stop on his visit trail, as he's scheduled to visit the following four schools:

  • UConn: August 31
  • Michigan State: September 6
  • Ohio State: September 21
  • North Carolina: October 4

A top-25 prospect, Bundalo has the skillset to be a matchup nightmare as a stretch-four or even at the center position. His ability on the basketball court seems to pair extremely well to what Hubert Davis and the Tar Heels are looking to build, as we all have witnessed what Davis' system is capable of when he has big men who can stretch the floor.

Sure, fans don't want to hear about list of finalists, but rather want to see the UNC basketball program land some Class of 2025 talent. Although they haven't added any recruits just yet, Hubert Davis and his staff are working extremely hard to change that in the near future.
