UNC Basketball: Paxson Wojcik to begin professional basketball career overseas
After completing his collegiate career with the UNC basketball program, Paxson Wojcik is set to begin his professional career overseas.
The former Tar Heel has agreed to terms on a contract with the Stal Ostrów Wielkopolski, a member of the Polish Basketball League.
Wojcik was well-traveled during his college career, as he spent time with three different programs. He began his college career at Loyola Chicago before transferring to Brown. From there, Wojcik elected to spend his final season in Chapel Hill, as his father was a former coach for the Tar Heels during his youth.
At the beginning of the season, Wojcik was among the UNC basketball program's starters but transitioned to a role off the bench. In 33 games (three starts), Wojcik averaged 1.5 points per game. His best scoring output came on February 6 against Clemson, a game in which he set season highs in points (7) and minutes played (21).
While his role diminished in his lone season with the UNC basketball program, Wojcik was still a valuable leader and veteran for last year's squad. In recognition of what he brought to the table, Wojcik was named a co-winner of the Marvin Williams Carolina Way Award, which honors the player who best exemplifies playing hard, being unselfish and thinking of the team first.
Now, Wojcik will look to begin his professional career overseas, as his first stop takes him to Poland.
