UNC Basketball officially releases its roster for the 2024-2025 season
We're another step closer to the UNC basketball program's 2024-2025 season as the program released its official roster for the upcoming campaign.
There are plenty of new faces in Chapel Hill this season, as a steady mix of incoming freshmen, transfers and walk-ons help complete the roster. Of course, guys like RJ Davis, Elliot Cadeau (who will be sporting the No. 3 this season) and others return, but it certainly will be a different looking Tar Heels squad this season.
Let's start with the newcomers, as we can officially let you know what jersey number they will be wearing in their first season with the program:
Tyzhaun Claude- No. 0
James Brown- No. 2
Cade Tyson- No. 5
Elijah Davis- No. 6
Drake Powell- No. 9
Ian Jackson- No. 11
Russell Hawkins- No. 14
John Holbrook- No. 15
Ven-Allen Lubin- No. 22
Now, it will be weird seeing anyone other than Armando Bacot wearing the No. 5 this season, as he donned the number for half a decade. Of course, players come and go throughout the history of the program, but it still will take some time getting used to!
The good news is that both Jalen Washington and Jae'Lyn Withers bulked up a bit this offseason. The program lists them both as five pounds heavier than they did a season ago, as the Tar Heels need both guys to be steady presences in the post throughout the entire year.
In the current college basketball landscape, roster overhaul is becoming more common by the day. For the UNC basketball program, the main goal remains the same, as the program aspires to be the last team standing on the final Monday of the season.
The UNC basketball program kicks off its 2024-2025 season on Monday, November 4 with a non-conference clash against Elon at the Dean Smith Center.
