There hasn't been much buzz around Nikolas Khamenia's recruitment, as the four-star wing has been keeping his recruitment under-the-radar.

Well, that changed on Friday afternoon, as the consensus top-30 prospect from the Class of 2025 has narrowed his recruitment down to five programs, a list that is comprised of top-tier caliber programs.

Khamenia is now focusing on the following programs:

Arizona
Duke
Gonzaga
North Carolina
UCLA

This is very good news for Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program, as the 6-foot-8 forward simply has the size and skillset that would thrive in the Tar Heels' "stretch four" position.

While discussing his recruitment with Joe Tipton of On3, Khamenia talked about the "great relationships" he's built with North Carolina's coaching staff, particularly Hubert Davis, Brad Frederick, and Sean May.

Jamie Shaw (also of On3) added some interesting tidbits regarding Khameina's recruitment, as it appears that the Class of 2025 standout is well aware of how he would fit in Chapel Hill:

"In speaking with sources around the recruitment, I am told that Khamenia sees the role with UNC. He understands, I am told, that with head coach Hubert Davis’ system, there are a lot of parallels with the Brady Manek / Harrison Ingram role and Khamenia’s game."

As Shaw noted, Khamenia seems to be an ideal fit for what the UNC basketball program is looking for. Given his ability to shoot the basketball at a high level for a player of his size, there's no doubt that he can put together a Brady Manek-like impact if he decides to become a Tar Heel.

Hubert Davis' system is an enticing one for high school athletes to want to play in, as the pace the UNC basketball program wants to play at is very beneficial for guys who can score the basketball. Khamenia is certainly one of those guys, as the Tar Heels will look toward his upcoming official visit to prove that he should bring his talents to Chapel Hill next season.
