Luke Maye is set to continue his professional basketball career in Japan, but will reportedly be heading to a new team.

The former UNC basketball star is expected to join the Nagoya Diamond Dolphins for the upcoming season. This comes after Maye spent last season with Tofas Bursa and the Ibaraki Robots.

Maye averaged 7.1 points and 4.5 rebounds last season with the Tofas Bursa, but broke out when he joined the Ibaraki Robots. He became the second-best scorer in the B League, averaging 20.9 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in 28 minutes per game. He shot 53.7% from the floor, including an impressive 40.3% from beyond-the-arc.

Now, Maye is expected to join the Nagoya Diamond Dolphins, a team that reached the semifinals last season but was eliminated by Hiroshima, the eventual B League champions.

Maye, now 27 years old, has taken his professional basketball career to various countries along the way. From Italy to Spain to Turkey to now Japan, the former UNC basketball star continues to be a productive player regardless of where he goes, as he'll now look to help his new team reach new heights this upcoming season.

From what we know about Luke Maye, he's simply a winner. He will do whatever his team needs him to do in order to be successful, as it doesn't surprise anyone who has followed the UNC basketball program that his professional basketball career overseas has been a successful one thus far.
