UNC Basketball: Coby White returns to Chapel Hill to host youth basketball camp
Can you believe its been five years already since Coby White competed for the UNC basketball program?!
It feels like just yesterday that White was spearheading the Tar Heels offense, as his ability as a playmaker and his bubbly personality made him an instant fan favorite in Chapel Hill.
Now, White is starting to figure it out at the NBA level, as he's coming off his best season as a pro. With the offseason ahead of him, of course White is focused on improving heading into year six, but he also is making an emphasis on giving back to the community.
The former Tar Heel returned to Chapel Hill this weekend, as he was shown on the ESPN broadcast in attendance at the UNC baseball program's Super Regional game against West Virginia. White was showing support for the Tar Heels, but his trip back to his college home was much bigger than taking in a sporting event.
White hosted a youth basketball camp at the Dean Smith Center with ProCamps on Sunday, the day after he was spotted at Boshamer Stadium. The camp hosted students of various age groups, ranging from first to eighth grade.
After arriving at the camp, White was an active participant as he spent time with the campers around the court. Much to the surprise of those in attendance, White wasn't the only professional athlete to make an appearance.
Current Golden State Warriors guard Chris Paul, Henry Domercant from the Bulls organization, and Charlotte Hornets forward Grant Williams made special appearances at White's camp, as seen in the above picture posted by Inside Carolina.
It's cool to see White not only returning to Chapel Hill but making an impact on the youth community as well.
Who knows: maybe the next great future Tar Heels were in attendance at the Dean Smith Center this past weekend!
