UNC Basketball: Cade Tyson: "I'm Ready to be a Tar Heel"
Cade Tyson is ready to be a Tar Heel.
The Belmont transfer has officially arrived in Chapel Hill and has begun classes as he prepares for his first season as a member of the UNC basketball program.
Tyson was a priority target for Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program in the transfer portal, as his elite shooting ability is something the Tar Heels looked to add this offseason. They were able to reel in the in-state product, who is excited about this new journey.
The newest member of the Tar Heels spoke to Grant Hughes of Inside Carolina, as he seems very hyped for this next chapter.
"I'm ready to be a Tar Heel. I'm excited. [UNC was] definitely one of the calls I was waiting on. It's my home state. It's in the ACC. I always grew up watching them. I wouldn't say I was a super Carolina fan growing up, but I definitely am now. [Coach Davis] made me feel wanted. He talked me through what Carolina is all about, what they're going to have on the roster next year, and what kind of role they want me to take on."
As we've heard in past recruiting battles, Hubert Davis seems to make a strong impact on the players he's recruiting, as Tyson becomes the latest to mention how the Tar Heels leader made him feel wanted.
Tyson seems to be a great fit for the UNC basketball program, as his elite shooting can help replace some of the production lost by the graduation of Cormac Ryan. He also provides another viable scoring option, given that the Tar Heels are set to lose three of their five starters from a season ago.
Expectations are high for Cade Tyson as he joins the UNC basketball program. Although we are still months away from his debut, Tyson seems more than ready to compete for his new squad.
