There is plenty of tremendous matchups on Saturday in the NCAA Baseball Championship, but the matchup about to happen in Chapel Hill just might feature the most future MLB talent.

When the UNC baseball program hosts defending national champion LSU, there will be plenty of players who are considered top prospects for the 2024 MLB Draft. In fact, the two rosters combined feature eight of the top 200 prospects according to MLB Pipeline.

Tommy White is the headliner for LSU, as the former NC State Wolfpack infielder is ranked by MLB Pipeline as the No. 15 overall ranked player in this draft class. Vance Honeycutt, the star of the UNC baseball program, comes in five spots behind White at No. 20 on the rankings.

The majority of the list is dominated by LSU, as only one other Diamond Heel made the cut. That UNC baseball player is Casey Cook, who is the No. 172-ranked prospect in this projected draft class.

Tar Heel fans won't see Gage Jump, the No. 60 ranked prospect, as he threw 7.1 innings of work in the Tigers victory over Wofford on Friday afternoon. However, the Diamond Heels are expected to face right-hander Luke Holman, who ranks No. 48 on the list, as he comes in with an impressive 9–3 record to go along with a 2.54 ERA.

As the defending national champion, it shouldn't be a surprise to see LSU featuring so much star power. Although the Tigers have a lot of draft-eligible prospects that are noteworthy, the duo of Honeycutt and Cook has been a special tandem to watch over the last two seasons in Chapel Hill.

Needless to say: Saturday night should be a fun one between LSU and North Carolina as both teams look to find themselves in the driver's seat to win the Chapel Hill Region.
