When you talk about the best defensive players throughout the college baseball world, you simply can't leave out UNC baseball star Vance Honeycutt.

Honeycutt has earned the reputation as an elite defender, as he's cover quite a bit of ground in centerfield for the Diamond Heels throughout his three seasons in Chapel Hill.

For his efforts defensively during the 2024 season, Honeycutt has earned a ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Award.

Honeycutt, the reigning two-time ACC Defensive Player of the Year. Honeycutt was tested even more during his junior season and rose to the occasion, recording 191 putouts and five assists while carrying a .985 fielding percentage.

The Salisbury, North Carolina native becomes the first Diamond Heel to earn an ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Award since the award’s inception back in 2007.

Honeycutt has put together a special career as a member of the UNC baseball program, as he'll go down as arguably the greatest player to ever wear the Carolina Blue uniform. What Honeycutt has been able to do offensively and defensively is nearly impossible to match, as not many players in the country can impact the game in the ways that the Diamond Heels star does regularly.

If this is the end of his UNC baseball career (which is likely given he is projected as a first-round pick in this year's MLB Draft), Vance Honeycutt will go down as a legend at the University of North Carolina. It's fitting that he's earned this award, as he takes pride in his efforts defensively and has made some incredible plays over the last three seasons that will be played on replay for many years to come.
