Heading into his junior season with the UNC baseball program, Vance Honeycutt is drawing plenty of attention from Major League clubs.

Honeycutt burst onto the scene in 2022 with his breakout freshman season for the Diamond Heels, as his dominance in center field left MLB scouts intrigued by his overall skillset. His sophomore year was hampered by injuries, but he's expected to be fully healthy when the Tar Heels open up the 2024 season in a couple of weeks.

Now, as a draft-eligible junior, Honeycutt is regarded as one of the top available prospects in the game, as MLB Pipeline have him as a top-10 selection in their first mock draft for the 2024 MLB Draft.

This first mock draft has Honeycutt being selected by the Kansas City Royals with the No. 6 overall pick. It's important to note that each of the first eight picks in this given mock draft come from the college ranks, as it appears the collegiate talent are preferred over potential high school prospects at this point in time.

When you look at Honeycutt's overall game, there's simply a lot to like. Offensively, he possesses a mix of power and speed that not many players can say they have, while he's an above-average defensive player in center field who could certainly transition to a corner outfield spot if needed.

All eyes will be on Honeycutt this season as he hopes to replicate his freshman season to rise even further up the MLB Draft boards. If he can put together a strong junior season, we won't be waiting long to hear his name called on draft night.
