After being selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the first round of the 2024 MLB Draft a few weeks ago, it was a guarantee that former UNC baseball star Vance Honeycutt would be included in the next edition of MLB Pipeline's top 30 prospect list for the organization.

Although we all expected Honeycutt to be among the 30 players listed, it's a surprise to see him debut on the list as high as he is, especially with the amount of talent that the franchise possesses.

Honeycutt is currently viewed as the No. 4 ranked player in the team's farm system, as he's likely to move up at least to No. 3 once Jackson Holliday graduates off the list (which should come rather soon).

The former Diamond Heels star hasn't even suited up for a game with his new team and is considered a top-five prospect in the organization, as it certainly wouldn't be a surprise for him to not only move up these rankings, but to fly through the minor league system in the near future.

For Honeycutt, landing in the Orioles organization seems to be a really good fit, as the franchise has a surplus of infield talent but could definitely benefit from some timely outfield help as well. In a "win-now" mode, the Orioles hope that Honeycutt can help them sooner rather than later, as his ability to be a dynamic player on both sides of the ball can really help the big league club as they aim to capture a World Series title over the next few seasons.
