After leading the UNC baseball program to 48 victories and a trip to the College World Series, Scott Forbes has been named the 2024 Atlantic Region Coach of the Year.

His fourth season at the helm was easily his best thus far, as Forbes guided the Diamond Heels into becoming one of the nation's best overall squads. Led by a roster of key veterans, the UNC baseball program went on to win the ACC regular season title and made a trip to Omaha for the first time since 2018.

After serving as a long-time assistant coach, Forbes was tabbed as the Diamond Heels' next head coach prior to the start of the 2020-2021 academic year. Since then, Forbes has paved the way for future success, as North Carolina is once again considered among the country's premier baseball programs.

Even with his best two starting pitchers going down with season-ending injuries, Forbes and the Diamond Heels found a way to continue their success. It's also important to mention how well Forbes did in regard to adding freshman talent as well as transfer portal additions, as the likes of Parks Harber, Alex Madera, Shea Sprague and Anthony Donofrio were major contributors throughout the 2024 season.

College athletics essentially changing by the day, as Forbes, who is a long-time coach at the Division I level, has done a tremendous job of keeping up with the current ways. This year was a testament to the hard work and dedication he's put in for the UNC baseball program, as this year's squad had a special year that will be remembered for quite some time.
