On Friday night, the UNC baseball program picked up a 2-1 victory over No. 11-ranked East Carolina. The win was a big one in itself, coming against a top-25 program, but it also signified much more for the history of the Diamond Heels.

The win marks the 3,000th in program history, as the UNC baseball program is now one of eight NCAA programs to have accomplished this illustrious feat. It's another testament to the overall success that the program has had in its rich history.

If you're a fan of offense, Friday night wasn't necessarily for you. However, a Vance Honeycutt go-ahead home run was worth the price of admission, as that one swing from the Diamond Heels' star centerfielder proved to be the difference in this pitching duel.

This is a pretty remarkable accomplishment, as not many programs have ever done this prior. It goes to show you just how good the program has been over time, as it's been able to build, and sustain, success for many years now.

Of course, the 3000th win in program history is nice, but we're certain that Scott Forbes and the UNC baseball program are looking for 3001 and 3002 this weekend as they continue their three-game series with East Carolina.
