UNC Baseball earns top-four seed in the 2024 NCAA Tournament

The road to Omaha goes straight through Chapel Hill for the UNC baseball program if they can capitalize on the home field advantage they've secured.

The stage for the NCAA Tournament is officially set, as the UNC baseball program has secured a top-four national seed in this year's event.

What this means is: if the Diamond Heels can advance to the Super Regionals, they would play all their games at home before a potential trip to Omaha.

However, the Tar Heels have to take care of business first, as that starts with regional play this upcoming weekend in Chapel Hill. Here's your first look at the Chapel Hill region:

North Carolina is joined by Long Island, Wofford and LSU in the bracket. The Tar Heels are scheduled to take on Long Island in their NCAA Tournament opener on Friday.

At this point in the season, there really isn't such a thing as a "easy bracket." The Diamond Heels can attest to that, as their region features three very good teams, including the defending champion LSU Tigers.

Wofford won the Southern Conference Championship, as their lineup features eight players that hit over .300 this season. Long Island put together a 33-23 season, while LSU put together another 40-win season in a very competitive SEC.

It's safe to say that there will be plenty of quality baseball played in Chapel Hill this weekend.

The field is set, and the seedings definitely favor the UNC baseball program. By claiming a top four seed, the Tar Heels have the opportunity to take advantage of playing at home, a place they had plenty of success at this season, as they hope that Friday begins their road to Omaha.
