The anticipation for the new EA Sports College Football video game to release next week, as the company has started to trickle along information about the game to get the fans even more hyped.

On Wednesday, the top 100 players based on ratings were released, as two UNC football stars earned a spot on the list.

Star running back Omarion Hampton comes in at No. 22 overall, as he's the third-highest-rated running back in the country. With a 93 overall rating, Hampton only trails Ollie Gordon of Oklahoma State (No. 3 overall) and Quinshon Judkins of Ole Miss (No. 9 overall) among active running backs.

Edge rusher Kaimon Rucker is rated as a 91 overall, as he's regarded as the No. 56 ranked player in the initial top-100 rankings. For players regarded as "Edge," Rucker is the third-highest player at his position heading into the start of the game.

Ratings for video games are always interesting, as they provide plenty of room for debate among fans across the country. For the UNC football program, the game seemed to get this one right, as Hampton and Rucker are very well-deserving of their initial ratings.

Hampton was one of the best running backs in the country a season ago and is poised to repeat as one heading into his junior season. Rucker, heading into his fifth and final season as a Tar Heel, has developed a reputation as an elite pass rusher, as he makes life difficult for opposing offensive lines as he hunts down their quarterback in the backfield.

Now that we know that Hampton and Rucker will rank as the top UNC football players in the rankings, it will be interesting to see how the rest of the roster shapes out. Guys like Bryson Nesbit could have a pretty high rating, while we'll have to wait and see just how the rating group projects some other notable Tar Heels.
