NEWS: North Carolina and Michigan St. have verbally agreed to play each other NEXT Thanksgiving—in 2025—as part of the four-team Fort Myers Tip-Off, sources tell @CBSSports. Mid-major teams are TBD. Game will air in the late afternoon on Fox after the Lions NFL game. Big matchup.

According to Matt Norlander, the UNC basketball program and Michigan State have verbally agreed to play each other next Thanksgiving (2025). This matchup will be part of the Fort Myers Tip-Off event.
Don't worry- you can still watch football while you enjoy some delicious food. The game is expected to be aired in the late afternoon on FOX following the day's NFL action.
North Carolina is 7-3 all-time against the Spartans, winning seven of the last eight matchups. The latest matchup between the two historic programs came during this year's NCAA Tournament, a game in which the UNC basketball program, the No. 1 seed in the West Region, pulled away to defeat Michigan State by a score of 85-69 in their second round clash. The Tar Heels trailed by as many as 12 points early before finishing the first half on a 23-3 run to take control and a nine-point lead at intermission
While we haven't even started the 2024-2025 season yet, it's never too early to look ahead (right?). This will be another quality non-conference game for Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program, as the motto has been to put together a competitive non-conference slate to help not only build the team's NCAA Tournament resume but to prepare them for the challenges of ACC play.
