This Class of 2026 standout is a hot commodity for North Carolina-based universities
There's been one common trend in Chase Geter's early recruitment.
The majority of the programs showing the most interest come from the state of North Carolina.
Mack Brown and the UNC football program became the latest program to extend an offer to Geter, a 6-foot-1, 185-pound cornerback from Ashburn, Virginia. Geter announced his offer from the Tar Heels with the above social media post.
As a Class of 2026 prospect, Geter's recruitment is still in the early stages. However, it has ramped up over the last month and a half, as he's received five offers since April 23.
NC State was the first school to offer Geter, and Duke proceeded to follow. Toledo broke the in-state trend with their offer, but Charlotte brought it back to the state of North Carolina with their offer on May 21.
Now, the UNC football program has jumped into the mix as well.
During his sophomore season at the high school level, Geter recorded 37 total tackles, 10 pass break ups, and three interceptions to go along with a sack as well as a fumble recovery for a touchdown. Heading into his junior season, Geter has earned a reputation as a lockdown corner, as it will be interesting to see how much opposing offenses test this this upcoming season.
It's interesting to see the current trend, as four schools within the same state are among the first five schools to offer this respective student-athlete. It's certain that more teams will jump into the mix before its all said and done, but at the moment, Geter is receiving a lot of love from the state of North Carolina.
The UNC football program has wasted no time with this recruiting class, as they've now extended offers to 51 players within the Class of 2026. At the moment, only four are classified as cornerbacks, as it appears that the Tar Heels are being very specific with who they offer at this respective position.
