The UNC football program actually finds a way to top last week's brutal outing

Just when we thought last week's loss to JMU was bad, the UNC football program didn't let us down by topping it this week!

20. 441. DUKE. 21. 434. Final

Up by 20 points, the UNC football program choked away the lead, allowing 21 unanswered points to lose against rival Duke on Saturday afternoon. This marks the first time that Duke has won this rivalry matchup since 2018 when Daniel Jones was their quarterback.

It legitly felt like two different teams played football for the Tar Heels on Saturday. In the first half, the Tar Heels defense was strong, not allowing any points while the offense, guided by Omarion Hampton, made some very timely plays to put points on the board.

However, the second half, the offense essentially stalled while the defense forgot how to tackle.

From dumb penalties in key situations (cough JJ Jones' unsportsmanlike penalty in the fourth quarter) to just complacency all around, the UNC football program didn't fool us. In fact, it felt as if the first half success was a fluke, as we all awaited this team to utterly collapse, which is exactly what they did.

Maalik Murphy was horrible in the first half and looked like a star in the second half. Star Thomas made it feel like he was untouchable, as the Tar Heels defense couldn't find a way to bring him down.

Add that to a brutal performance by the Tar Heels offensive line in the final two quarters, which led to their struggles altogether, along with an AWFUL punt by Tom Maginness at the absolute wrong time, North Carolina was out-coached and out-played over the final two quarters and essentially handed the game over to the Blue Devils.

At this point, let's just hope there's no locker room chaos ahead like we saw after last week's loss. These two losses are draining enough.
