The UNC basketball program's 2024-2025 roster might not be finalized just yet

While the 2024-2025 school year is set to begin in Chapel Hill in just over a week, Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program might not be done adding to this year's roster.

Trilly Donovan reported that the UNC basketball program has been in contact with Georgia Tech transfer Tyzhaun Claude. After entering the transfer portal on April 1, the Goldsboro, North Carolina native was recently granted a waiver from the NCAA and is eligible to play during the 2024-25 season.

Claude has had quite the college journey up to this point, as he's been at three different schools thus far. He started his career at Morehead State and unforunately dealt with injuries during his three years on campus.

From there, Claude transferred to Western Carolina where he had a breakout season, averaging 15.4 points and 8.6 rebounds per contest. After just one season at Western Carolina, Claude once again transferred and joined the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, where he averaged 4.8 points and 5.4 rebounds in a role off the bench.

Seeing this may make you think that Hubert Davis and his staff have some doubts regarding their current front court depth. Sure, Claude would be another "smaller big," for the Tar Heels as he's listed at 6-foot-7, but his skillset would add additional depth for the UNC basketball program to work with.

The way I see it: if you have additional scholarships to work with, mind as well use them.

It wouldn't hurt one bit to bring in a veteran big man with some prior experience within the ACC. Given the current timetable, with school beginning very soon, expect this recruitment to move rather quickly, as a decision will likely come sooner rather than later, especially given that his next landing spot will want to get him acclimated to their current roster.
