"RJ, RJ, RJ."

That is what you heard echoing throughout the Dean Smith Center on Monday night, as the fans who witnessed Davis' performance in the UNC basketball program's win over Wake Forest let him know how much they appreciated his efforts.

The love for Davis hasn't been limited to just this one special night, it has been a consistent theme throughout his senior season in Chapel Hill.

Davis has taken his game to an elite level, as Monday's victory in which he scored a career-high 36 points was another reminder of just how good he's been.

In fact, he hasn't been just good: he's been the nation's BEST guard through this point in the season.

And let's all remember: this was a guy who didn't even make the Preseason All-ACC teams!

There's a lot of stats and UNC basketball history notes to cover, so let's get right into them.

For starters, Davis broke the record for most consecutive games with multiple three-point field goals made. He tied Justin Jackson's previous record of 15 in the Tar Heels weekend victory at Boston College, and proceeded to break the record with consecutive three pointers early in the second half against the Demon Deacons.

With his 36 points, Davis now has six games this season in which he's scored 25 or more points. His previous career high was 30 points, a mark he hit twice prior (first vs. Baylor in 2022 and again earlier this season against Arkansas).

Speaking of 30-point games, Davis is the first Tar Heel with three games of this nature since 2018-2019. The two players who accomplished the feat during that season were also very impressive players.

According to Carolina Men's Basketball stats and information, the White Plains, New York native is also the first Tar Heel to have multiple 30+ point games in a season since Garrison Brooks accomplished the feat during the 2019-2020 campaign.

And hey, Davis even did something that hasn't been done since his current head coach, Hubert Davis, did back in 1992!

Davis now has the third-most points scored by a UNC basketball player against Wake Forest, trailing only Bobby Lewis (37) and Charlie Scott (43). He now has the most points scored by a Tar Heel in the Dean Smith Center since the great Tyler Hansbrough (who was working the game as a broadcaster for the Tar Heels Sports Network) scored 39 against Clemson in 2008.

RJ Davis is putting together a very special season in what could be his last as a member of the UNC basketball program, as he's defining himself as the clear-cut favorite to win the ACC Player of the Year Award, an honor that would rightfully put his No. 4 jersey in the rafters at the Dean Smith Center among the other UNC basketball greats that he has put himself in company with.
