The ACC officially runs through the UNC basketball program!

HOW ABOUT THEM TAR HEELS?!

The UNC basketball program completed the season sweep of rival Duke, as they are officially the outright ACC regular season champions.

North Carolina came ready to play from the jump, taking an early 15-4 lead in a hostile environment in Durham. The Tar Heels led 15-4 before we could even reach the first media timeout, forcing Jon Scheyer to take an early timeout.

The UNC basketball program connected on six of its first seven shots, led by three triples from Cormac Ryan. North Carolina went up by as much as 15 in the first half, and took a 9 point lead into the break.

Duke wasn't going away easy, as Kyle Filipowski got hot as the second half got underway. The Tar Heels weathered the storm and punched back, as a 7-0 run helped push the lead back to double-digits.

It was your typical game between these two programs: chippy. Both sides showed physicality, while Filipowski showed his ability to trip his opponents, which seemed to be a tribute to former Blue Devil Grayson Allen.

Ryan was clearly the difference, as he had a career night in what will be his final regular season contest. Having played at Notre Dame, Ryan is no stranger to Cameron Indoor Stadium, as he finished the night with 31 points while knocking down six three-pointers.

Duke cut the lead to as much as three down the stretch, but Ryan was able to knock down some critical free throws to keep the Blue Devils at bay. A clutch Elliot Cadeau shot (which looked like a three but was called a two) was the play that felt like the "dagger" in Duke's comeback efforts.

North Carolina led the entire game as they secured sole possession of the ACC regular season title. These two teams might end up meeting again a week from now, but hey, let's enjoy this one as the official Atlantic Coast Conference champions!

The team visualized it, and now it is a reality. A new banner will be hung in the rafters at the Dean Smith Center.
