Following the Chapel Hill Regional, Scott Forbes and the UNC baseball program had to alter its starting rotation a bit.

After Jason DeCaro was called upon to start the decisive "Game 7," Shea Sprague was tabbed as the Diamond Heels' starter for the Super Regional opener against West Virginia.

DeCaro started (and dominated) in the second game to help the UNC baseball program clinch its first trip to the College World Series since 2018.

As the Diamond Heels are set to take the field in Omaha on Friday afternoon, Forbes has announced how his starting rotation will play out.

The rotation will flip back to its original order, as DeCaro will get the nod against Virginia on Friday. With a day off in-between games, Sprague will get the ball in the Tar Heels' contest on Sunday.

With the way the schedule is set, the Diamond Heels currently need two starters, as Forbes confirmed that Aidan Haugh will be available out of the bullpen. Ideally, it's possible that DeCaro can return on short rest to pitch on Tuesday while Sprague would follow suit to take the mound on Wednesday in the bracket finals.

The UNC baseball program hopes that its starting pitching can continue to provide quality innings, as it will be vital to keep the bullpen as fresh as possible. If the duo of DeCaro and Sprague can continue pitching they way they have over the last couple of weeks, the Diamond Heels will have a legitimate chance of advancing to the College World Series finals next weekend.
