The UNC baseball program's season came to an end on Tuesday afternoon at the hands of the Florida State Seminoles in the College World Series.

Teams across the country dream of making it to Omaha, as that was one of the Diamond Heels' goals from the word go. A 48-win season, an ACC regular season title along with hosting both the Regional and Super Regional rounds in Chapel Hill are a testament to what the program has achieved over the last few months, as the trip to Omaha made their success even more sweet.

Shortly after his team's final game, manager Scott Forbes was asked to reflect on the 2024 season. There was one word that came to mind for the fourth-year head coach.

"Told the guys in the locker room, the word that came to my mind was proud. Just because they should be proud of what they've done this entire season.

They've worked since August. They've stayed together. They've pulled hard for one another. They gave our fans so much to be passionate about, so much to look forward to. Our fans were awesome.

I'm just proud of Carolina baseball, where it is. That's a credit to our players in that locker room this year and all the support that this program has. I'm proud to be the leader of the program, but man, these guys, I'm just so thankful that they took me along this ride with them."

What a ride it was for the UNC baseball program, as this was a group is one that fans will remember for quite some time. Sure, the Diamond Heels wanted to be the one celebrating on the field as the last team standing in Omaha, but the end of the season in this fashion shouldn't take anything away from the special season that this group put together.

Well said, Coach Forbes. It's safe to say that the UNC baseball program is in great hands.
