RJ Davis represents UNC basketball as a finalist for a prestigious national award
On Tuesday, the 10 finalists for the Jerry West Award were announced, as UNC basketball star RJ Davis has rightfully earned his spot on the list.
The Jerry West Award is annually presented to the top shooting guard in Division I men’s college basketball. When you think about the top shooting guards in the country this season, it's impossible to not include the Tar Heels star, as he's elevated his game to an elite level during his senior year in Chapel Hill.
Davis currently leads the ACC in scoring, averaging 20.1 per game. He is a three-time ACC Player of the Week recipient, an award he also took home this past week after two outstanding performances against Wake Forest and Florida State.
The UNC basketball program has been rolling, as Davis has been the one to lead the charge. Heading into Tuesday night's action, the Tar Heels hold a 17-3 record, including 9-0 in ACC play.
Along with Davis, there is also another very familiar name on the list for UNC basketball fans. Former Tar Heel, and current Arizona guard, Caleb Love also earned a spot on the top-10 list.
Here is the list of finalists for the 2023-2024 Jerry West Award:
Caleb Love- Arizona
Ja'Kobe Walker- Baylor
Trey Alexander- Creighton
Johnell Davis- FAU
LJ Cryer- Houston
Kevin McCullar Jr.- Kansas
Antonio Reeves- Kentucky
Tyson Walker- Michigan State
RJ Davis- North Carolina
Boogie Ellis- USC
If Davis can continue his strong play throughout the remainder of the 2023-2024 season, he'll be one of the front-runners for this annual award when it's all said and done.
