RJ Davis comments on former UNC basketball teammate Caleb Love's success
RJ Davis was named the ACC Player of the Year on Monday.
A day later, former UNC basketball standout Caleb Love was named the PAC-12 Player of the Year.
Of course, Davis was asked about it when he spoke to the media on Wednesday prior to the Tar Heels' ACC Tournament quarterfinal against Florida State on Thursday.
The storyline from last year's nightmarish season for the UNC basketball program seemed to focus on the backcourt duo of Davis and Love, as the media loves to continue making a storyline out of it. Davis was asked to comment on Love's success, and here's what he had to say:
According to Davis, the former teammates spoke and congratulated each other on their respective awards. He also went on to say that he's always been a fan of Love's game, and added that he considers Love "his brother."
Now, of course we really don't know what happened within the UNC basketball program's locker room, but at this point in time, it's great to see both players thriving.
Davis has put together a historical season at North Carolina, while Love fit right in at Arizona, as he's also had a tremendous year for his new team.
There are still people out there that have animosity towards Love (which is mind boggling to me), but I'm here to tell you that it's perfectly okay to be happy for both players' success on the court.
In all honesty, Love doesn't get the credit that he deserves, as he is responsible for some big-time moments in UNC basketball history. It still feels weird to see him in another uniform, as it would have been nice to see him finish his career in Chapel Hill.
However, things happen, and in this case, it worked out nicely for both sides.
Regardless of what might've happened last season, one thing hasn't changed: Davis and Love still are brothers and will always be bonded by the Carolina Blue uniform.
