North Carolina has early competition in the recruitment of Armando Bacot's brother
The recruitment of King Bacot, the brother of former UNC basketball star Armando Bacot, has already gotten started.
Oh yeah, it's important to note that he hasn't even entered high school yet!
King Bacot, an eighth grader, announced that he received his first Division I offer from VCU. While it's extremely early for recruiting rankings for the Class of 2029, Bacot is regarded by many as the top-ranked player in the class.
After missing out on landing Armando Bacot, VCU is already putting in the work to change the narrative this time around. I mean, after watching what Armando was able to accomplish with the UNC basketball program, I can't blame them for trying to convince King to eventually play his college basketball career within his home state!
It's safe to say that this will be the first of many scholarship offers extended his way, as we'd like to think that one from the UNC basketball program will eventually be on the way. While his eventual college basketball career is still quite a few years away, it doesn't hurt to dream that we'll be able to watch another member of the Bacot family play for the UNC basketball program down the road.
Based on the timing of his offer from VCU, you can really tell that the program wants to avoid letting history repeat itself this go around. For North Carolina, many hope that King Bacot will continue the family legacy and eventually make his way to Chapel Hill.
Sorry VCU, but it's only right that King Bacot follows his brothers footsteps.
