Naismith Trophy Player of the Year Midseason Team features two UNC basketball stars
On Thursday. the 2024 Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy Player of the Year Midseason Team was announced. This is a collection of 30 of the best college basketball players in the country, as the UNC basketball program is one of very few schools to have multiple players on the list.
To no surprise, senior guard RJ Davis made the list, as he's been arguably the best guard in the country. He currently leads the ACC in scoring at 21.5 points-per-game, and has been a major factor in the Tar Heels' success through this point of the season.
Not only is Davis the heavy favorite to be named the ACC Player of the Year, but is also making plenty of noise to be in consideration for All-American honors as well.
In his fifth and final season with the UNC basketball program, Armando Bacot also earned a spot on the list. Although Bacot's numbers are a bit lower than previous seasons, the Richmond, Virginia native is still a major force on both ends of the floor, as he's currently averaging a double-double (14.2 points, 10.2 rebounds).
Only four ACC players made the cut for this list, as the UNC basketball program's duo are joined by Kyle Filipowski of Duke and PJ Hall of Clemson. Only three schools have multiple representatives on the list, as North Carolina is joined by Kansas and Purdue on this exclusive list.
Both Davis and Bacot have been instrumental in the UNC basketball program's success, as they rightfully deserve to be mentioned among the country's top players.
