More craziness in our final regular season ACC men's basketball rankings
The 2023-2024 college basketball regular season has officially come to a close.
It's crazy to think how fast it went, as the UNC basketball program closed out the regular season by defeating rival Duke in Durham to capture the ACC regular season title outright.
The end of the regular season means it's time for our final rankings before postseason play begins. Don't worry—we'll give you one more update after the ACC Tournament ends!
There's little to no debate on who No. 1 and No. 2 should be, as there's a pretty decisive gap between the rest of the field. North Carolina secured the top spot by beating Duke a second time, as the Blue Devils couldn't defend its home court on 'Senior Night' in Durham.
In all honesty, anywhere from No. 3 to No. 7 are essentially interchangeable, as the teams in that group could easily be moved up or down the list. Remember: these rankings do take overall regular season records into consideration, but the recent body of work also plays a large factor. Some teams just haven't been able to live up to expectations as of late, which is definitely hurting their chances of making the upcoming NCAA Tournament.
Speaking of the NCAA Tournament, this week is huge for resume building, as some teams that find themselves on the bubble, or essentially on the outside looking in, have a chance to prove that they belong in the field when Selection Sunday rolls around in just a few days.
