Michael Busch hits walk-off home run for the Chicago Cubs
There was plenty to celebrate on Tuesday night in Chicago, as former UNC baseball star Michael Busch sent the home fans home happy with a walk-off victory.
With the score tied at two heading into the bottom of the night, Busch crushed an Enyel De Los Santos pitch into the right centerfield bleachers for a game-winning walk-off home run.
In case you missed it, here's the highlight:
As rain was coming down hard at Wrigley Field, Busch's home run not only helped avoid extra innings but a potential rain delay as well. Courtesy of a fan that was in attendance, the Cubs' X (formerly Twitter) account retweeted a video that shows lighting striking down as Busch hit his home run.
The former Diamond Heel has made the most of his everyday playing time at the big league level, as he's developed into a key contributor in the middle of the Cubs batting order. With that walk-off blast, Busch now has seven home runs on the season, as he's already appeared in more games and earned more plate appearances than he did in limited action a season ago with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The situation that the respective player is in plays a huge role in whether or not they can succeed, as Busch didn't have the opportunity to earn everyday at-bats during his time as a Dodger. However, the Cubs saw something in him and made a move to trade for the former Tar Heel, as the chance they took on him is currently looking like a great move on their end.
