Four-star center Malachi Moreno is one small step closer to a potential commitment.

The Georgetown, Kentucky native is one of the top 25 players in the Class of 2025 and has been heavily recruited by the UNC Basketball program. Last month, Moreno named North Carolina to his top eight school list and has scheduled his official visit.

This fall, Moreno will visit North Carolina (Sept. 13) and four other schools in his top eight (Indiana, Kentucky, Arkansas, Ohio State) as he continues his recruitment process.

The news comes just days after the completion of the Adidas 3SSB event in Rock Hill, South Carolina, where head coach Hubert Davis and his staff were in attendance to watch Moreno play.

Moreno went off for Indiana Elite in the tournament, dropping 21 points and an impressive 16 boards in a semifinal win against the Compton Magic.

247Sports National Basketball Director Eric Bossi was on hand to watch the performance and said plenty of positive things.

"He finished with soft touch around the rim and came up with big defensive plays while totally dominating on the glass."

The six-foot-11 big man's defensive presence and rebounding ability would fit in perfectly with the Tar Heels culture, and his visit this September will be crucial in ensuring the talent comes to Chapel Hill.
