It's not a secret that Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program have been actively searching for a big man in the transfer portal.

The Tar Heels have essentially been connected to every notable big man that has entered the portal, but the only issue is: many of them have already found new homes.

Thursday is a big day for the UNC basketball program, as they'll host one of their big man targets for an official visit.

Inside Carolina has been reporting since last week that Rutgers transfer Clifford Omoruyi was scheduled to take an official visit to Chapel Hill on Thursday. It's been reported by other outlets (such as On3) that this will be the final visit on Omoruyi's schedule.

Although the 6-foot-11 standout has been linked to other programs, the Tar Heels have a great opportunity to convince him to spend his final collegiate season at North Carolina. You know what they say: they save the best for last, as this is a chance for Hubert Davis and company to take advantage of this recruiting opportunity.

A three-year starter at Rutgers, Omoruyi is coming off a season in which he averaged 10.4 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. Although he does the bulk of his damage in the paint area, the Benin City, Nigeria native was able to knock down 51.2% of his attempts, as he provides a lob threat on offense while serving as a defensive presence on the other end of the floor.

North Carolina has Jalen Washington back in the mix, but other than Washington, the depth chart at the center position is rather slim. Omoruyi is a player who could nicely compliment what Washington brings to the table, as their skillsets are different and can provide the Tar Heels with production based on what the current need is.

Filling the shoes of Armando Bacot isn't a one player job to say the least, as the Tar Heels hope that Omoruyi decides to make his way to Chapel Hill to help the program fill the void for the 2024-2025 season.

It's a big day in Chapel Hill, as this is a recruiting target that is very high on the Tar Heels' current priority list.
