Garrison Brooks earns NBA Summer League opportunity with the Chicago Bulls
Add Garrison Brooks to the list of former UNC basketball standouts who will compete in the 2024 NBA Summer League.
The Chicago Bulls announced their roster for the upcoming summer league, a list headlined by No. 11 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft Mata Buzelis. On the list is a few former ACC players, including Brooks, who spent four of his five collegiate seasons at the University of North Carolina.
Brooks last played with the Alytus Wolves in Lithuania. He was injured and limited to 19 games this past season, averaging 8.1 points and 4.5 rebounds. In the European Cup (BKT EuroCup) tournament, Brooks appeared in 9 games and recorded 7.6 points with 4.3 rebounds per contest. He last appeared in the G-League during the 2022-2023 season, when he became a standout for the Westchester Knicks.
The former Tar Heel has been in the headlines lately, as he was selected in the 2024-2025 G-League Expansion Draft by the Valley Suns in June. If Brooks were to return to the G-League, the Suns would hold his rights.
However, at this point, the main focus is for Brooks to find a home on an NBA roster.
This will be an excellent opportunity for Brooks to showcase his skills in front of NBA executives and scouts. With some strong performances over the next few weeks, the former UNC basketball star could end up challenging for an NBA roster spot with a franchise heading into training camp.
