Former UNC football linebacker Tomon Fox released by the New York Giants
Cutting former Tar Heel Marcus McKethan wasn't enough. The New York Giants have now added former linebacker Tomon Fox to the discard pile.
The Athletic's Dan Duggan reported today that former UNC football player Tomon Fox was the latest Giant cut, but also speculated he could be added to the practice squad.
This demotion will not be new to Tomon Fox. He has been on a rollercoaster with the Giants ever since signing with the franchise as an undrafted free agent in 2022. After a year with the team where he played in 16 games and had 24 tackles (15 solo) in limited action, Fox was released by the Giants on August 29, 2023... then signed to their practice squad the very next day.
Fox was elevated to the main roster on Christmas Eve, 2023, and was back to the practice squad on Boxing Day. He has been with the Giants on a reserve/future contract since January 10, 2024. This release is just the latest stop on his yo-yo NFL journey.
Best of luck to Tomon Fox as he charts his course for his next NFL opportunity. As a reminder to the Giants and any other team out there who needs someone who can deliver explosive hits, Fox has this in his locker, he just needs snaps.
