Former UNC football cornerback Lejond Cavazos finds a new home
Lejond Cavazos has found a new home.
On social media, Cavazos announced that he has committed to Michigan State. This will be Cavazos third stop, as he originally began his career at Ohio State before joining the UNC football program.
In his two seasons with the UNC football program, Cavazos registered 25 tackles and four passes defended. At the end of last season, the San Antonio, Texas native struggled, as he allowed 10 receptions on 12 targets for 109 yards and missed three tackles during what would end up being his final three games as a Tar Heel.
Given that he spent spring practices working with the ones and twos, this is a rather big loss for the UNC football program. A veteran in the secondary, Cavazos was likely projected to play a big role on the Tar Heels defense this season, as they'll have to look at other options to fill the void.
From the Big Ten to the ACC back to the Big Ten, Cavazos' collegiate journey has been an interesting one, as he'll look to be a major part of the Spartans secondary heading into his graduate season. As for the UNC football program, they'll look to rely on some talented players that are on the roster to help improve upon a secondary unit that has had its fair share of struggles over the last few seasons.
