Former UNC basketball standout earns head coaching opportunity in NBA Summer League
The NBA Summer League provides various opportunities for people around the league to make their mark. This isn't limited to just players, but coaches can also earn some valuable experience as they look to advance their respective careers.
Former UNC basketball standout Jawad Williams has earned an opportunity to add to his coaching resume, as he has been tabbed the head coach of the Sacramento Kings' summer league squad
Williams will lead the Kings at this week's California Classic, as the organization got off to a great start on Saturday. The Kings demolished Team China by a score of 101-50, as the players celebrated with Williams (and the coaching staff) following the victory.
Similar to what the players competing are experiencing, this is a great opportunity to not only prove your worth your current team, but to also showcase your talents to league executives around the NBA. For Williams, this experience will only help bolster his young coaching resume, as the Kings organization seems to be very impressed with his early work with the franchise.
The former Tar Heel joined the Kings as the organization's player development coach in July of 2023. This is an ideal opportunity for Williams to gain some valuable coaching experience as he looks to move up the ranks.
This could be the start of a long coaching career for Williams, a former national champion with the UNC basketball program. Given his playing career experience, Williams for sure has been around some excellent coaches who have provided him with wisdom throughout the years, as now it's his turn to continue sharing that knowledge with the future of the sport.
